The basis of this piece is an exploration of how the clarinet sonority can become an integral part of the string sound and how to effect a transformation of the overall texture from fierce energy to tranquil lyricism.

Sometimes the clarinet leads and the strings act as a ripple in response to a pebble, their waves of sound triggered by the clarinet line. At other times every note is discernible as soft clarinet multiphonics are supported by strings whispering with practice mutes.
