"Following" was written using materials from my Bassoon Concerto
which was developed from "Calling" for solo bassoon, making
"Following" a granddaughter of "Calling". However I myself
don't know how much DNA from "Calling" or the Bassoon Concerto is in
the personality of "Following".
In “Following”, I remember focusing on writing lines rather than the
sound of multiphonics of the bassoon like in “Calling” and the
Bassoon Concerto. These lines are like the smooth but unique curves
of a river with sun reflecting off its surface. Sometimes the
river's shape is thin with sharp curves, sometimes it is thick and
strong, but the water is always passing calmly.
